WHAT IS VATA?
WIND & SPACE
the moving energy
.
People who have mostly vata in their constitutions are generally active, creative, and spontaneous. They might talk quickly and walk at a rapid pace. They have imaginative minds and enjoy experiencing new things, meeting new people, and visiting places they haven't been before. But they also tend to dramatic fluctuations of mood, appetite and energy. They may experience high energy in short bursts, and become easily overstimulated. The vata body is often tall and lanky, or willowy. Often, vata skin is cold and dry. Their hair may be frizzy and/or brittle. When imbalanced and provoked, a person with excess vata will feel anxious and have trouble sleeping.

Vata dosha is most prevalent in the late Autumn and early Winter, when the air is cold and dry and the wind blows in a new season.

Afternoon, from 2:00-6:00 is considered Vata time. So is early morning, from 2:00-6:00 am.
If you have excess vata dosha, your thoughts may wake you up during this time, and prevent you from getting a good night’s rest. You may feel anxious and overly stimulated, or exhausted and “dried up” right at the end of your workday.
